Welcome to the first month of spring! Hopefully this month we will start to see some warmer days and less snow! This month we will be learning about Dr. Seuss (rhyming words), ocean animals to help us prepare for our field trip to the Shedd Aquarium, Saint Patrick's Day, and Easter. We will focus one week on all about me, where we will focus on every child's favorite items to complete our Curriculum Fair assignments. We will continue to learn about Lent and Easter, please contribute money to the Lenten boxes that your child brought home on Ash Wednesday. The money that we collect will be sent to help our dog named Lucy who is a "seeing eye" dog that helps the blind. Also, we will be having a family mass on March 21st, at 11:00 a.m., please consider attending this mass and afterwards there will be a Saint Joseph's table in the school basement. More information will be sent home later this month. If you did not know, our school sells Market Day food products. The food is great and it also helps our school. The class that collect the most money from Market Day will get a reward from Ms. Maratea! We think our class is the best, so let's show the rest of the school!

This month there will be two family projects due that I would like you to complete. The first on is the Leprechaun Trap project that will be due on March 16th. Each family will create a trap to catch the leprechaun who come to our classroom each year and makes a mess. This project is a great way for all families to get involved with, however, it is not mandatory for you to complete. Our second family project that is "All About Me  Project" that will be due on March 26th. Again this will be a good way for the family to work together. I would like each child to complete this project and it will be displayed at the Curriculum Fair in April. These projects are very easy to complete and we hope you enjoy working on them with your family.

Every Friday during Lent, each class will be doing the Stations of the Cross, please consider attending one, the children do a great job! ON March 25th, the 7th and 8th graders do the Living Stations. They work very hard to perform them and we need to come out and support our school! All Stations take place in church at 7:00 P.M. If you have any questions, feel free to ask or call us at 312.326.7509, or email me at laura03277@hotmail.com. Thank you!
